I am a former teacher. In the middle as to whether it should exist. I see good arguments on both sides. To me, should be up to COngress though. Eliminating the DOE would not affect teacher unions much in my opinion. Their main actions happen at the school district level. Standing up for teachers in disputes, negotiating contracts, those types of things are their main actions, and those happen at the local level.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
