Where has the Union fought for higher standards

and more performance scrutiny of teachers? If they were about bettering education, this would be their primary function.
I come from a family of teachers, at all levels, so I have a great respect for what they do and how important good teachers are. But the union seems to focus more on teacher job security, at the expense of the quality of education the kids get. If you’ve had kids, you know there are great teachers and really bad ones. And unlike the private sector, it’s very very difficult to hold teachers to high standards and to remove them for poor performance.
