to help Ford and GM make better cars? By your reasoning if they did and demand for those cars went up wouldn't the consumers, the company and the workers all benefit? But instead they simply focus on keeping bad workers on the line doing just the opposite.

Teachers unions could very well be a catalyst for positive change in education but they never will because that is not what is actually best for the union.
