Professionalism. If you pay me to do a job I am going to do that job to the best of my ability. Sometimes the job is easy, I taught physics for years to students were self motivated and I was basically stealing money because outside of creating lessons the kids did all of the work. For the last few years I have been teaching algebra I, mostly to kids who have already failed it and don't want to be there. It's not easy but it is what they pay me to do and I do it to the best of my ability.
IMO the biggest problem in education today from the teacher side is lack of professionalism. Most, not all, young teachers do not understand what it means to be professional. When you are 23 and teaching people just a few years younger that professionalism is the armour that protects you. Without it you can find yourself in very precarious situations. Once you get my age it is not as important but by then it is kind of engrained in who you are.
