It's not far fetched in general, but under these specific

circumstances I find it far fetched. There are a lot of details in this scenario that are not common.

Biggest being that the assistant coach is a best friends with the HC and knowing that if he and his superstar child leave, it would cost his best friend his HC his job.

That and everybody involved has come out and said that is NOT how it happened.
