After Romar failed pretty badly with Fultz, I believe Porter looked at the situation and came to the conclusion that Romar was going to be fired after Jr. was done because he couldn't win with Fultz so he likely wouldn't be able to win with Jr. Porter saw an opportunity to reset his clock while he still had his son available as a recruit and he came back to Coumbia. Had he stayed in Seattle he likely would have been fired next season and wouldn't have the #1 prospect in the country to get him another P5 job.
