Likely Romar knew he wasn't going to be retained. He told Porter Sr it might be in his best interest to keep his ears open. All these rumors got back to Pingeton and she leaked it to Sterk and possible candidates. After conversations with Porter Sr, who was likely allowed to consult with other colleges about job openings, Cuonzo decided he had a good shot to land Sr on staff and his son on his team and decided to take the job. Once everything opened up, it all fell into place. Nothing unethical about that, but also HCCM doesn't get full credit for orchestrating it.
