Last season we played three close games (two possessions or closer) against teams that had more or less equal talent or superior talent. That was two vs. Arkansas and one vs. Tennessee. Went 2-1 in those games.
The rest of the close games were against teams where Mizzou had a bit more talent to quite a bit more talent. UCF, Wichita St., Vandy, Mississippi State, LSU, Ole Miss. It was a matter of the talent winning out in the end.
This season every SEC opponent so far has had from a bit more talent to a lot more talent and that's why they come out on top in the end even if the games were close for long stretches.
The talent gap in our favor wasn't evident against Jackson St., we reversed it against Pitt and Minnesota was a tossup that went in our favor.
But the SEC schedule both seasons shows how you make your luck with talent or have it turn against you with a lack of talent.
