We can't take the scriptures and the context of dowries and Mosaic law from 2k years ago literally even if most fundamentalists disagree.

Modern evangelicalism is steeped with literal interpretation which excludes historical context. I'm amazed that so many people take Paul's words literally without question.

I'm far more offended by progressive churches who judge and impose their morality less.
