Do you simply trust the quid-pro-quo claims of the player and "collective"?... of course not.
You apply metrics to determine if it's legitimate NIL, and that's where FMV comes into play.
The law is meaningless if one cannot determine whether compensation is NIL-related or not. That's why it's implied that the compensation must be reasonably commensurate with the value of the services or NIL rights.
