That's a clear statement about NIL in general. The statement you offered had nothing to do with NIL, it was merely an excuse to vote *against* the bill.
The CA bill was the catalyst that ultimately led to today's NCAA announcement, and Stanford had the foresight to predict it. It's why they tried to oppose the bill. Anyone who actually *supported* NIL was all for it because they knew it would get the ball rolling and force the NCAA's hand.
And now that NIL is definitely happening, those who opposed it are forced to embrace it. They have no choice.
