Not only was that written almost 2 years ago and they didn't oppose NIL laws but opposed The fair pay to play act (SB 206) which was for California only.

- “We believe that for any reform to be fair and meaningful to all student-athletes it needs to occur at the national level and be adopted by the NCAA,” he wrote.

They were also afraid the NCAA wouldn't allow California schools to play in championship games if only they had such laws.
