per game one year and then averages 13 pts the next year is not greatly improved.
Analytics give you slightly different view of things but games are won only one way, putting points on the board. Yes a more efficient player is scoring more points per touch but that only matters if someone else is picking up the slack.
A few years back I coached a kid who was super efficient but he would only shoot if he thought he had a great shot. We needed him taking more shots even if his efficiency went down but we could never get him to do it. The never understood that even if he missed more shots of team would still be better off because he was that much better than or next guy.
Analytics are data that can be considered but they are not the holy Grail that you believe them to be.
