If a kid at Northern Iowa deserves the same as Trevor Lawrence why doesn't Ben Neiman deserve the same as Patrick Mahomes?

Your mistake is in believing that the NIL and media contacts are in any way related.

The schools and leagues decided the media contacts and do so realizing that while they want their school or league to do better than the rest they still need them viable in order to be successful.

The NIL is being pushed by outside forces and is about individuals and has nothing to do with parity. As a matter of fact if NIL's become fact then what little parity there is in college sports will be gone. NILs are about 'I'm gonna get mine' and have nothing to do with the institutions or what is best for the sport.
