$45,000 per year. At Missouri. (8 SEC schools have higher costs than Mizzou)
Over a 4 year career At Mizzou, that totals $180,000+ ..........$225,000+ for a kid who redshirts..........PAID IN FULL.
Pre tax cost of that would probably be $250-275 grand.
With any effort at all they leave college with a college degree and no student loans to pay off-------priceless. If they work at it, they can get 1 to 1 1/2 years paid for towards a graduate degree.
Athletes have access to 4-5 years of the best food available to any students.
They create connections throughout the state just by being a player, and if they work at it just a little bit can create life changing connections far more easily than non-athletes.
They receive free travel to places most have never been.
They receive a substantial amount of free medical care not available to other students.
They receive high level training and coaching which can open paths to professional playing, or to coaching opportunities.
I have no problem paying them a couple hundred a month, but it's crazy to pay more than that. Colleges and Universities of higher education have no business allowing themselves to become owners of professional athletes.
