15-20% of our base are fair-weather fans. Mizzou doesn't have enough fans who did not attend the university. For example, I attended an OU-MU game in Norman a few years ago and was surprised by the number of people surrounding me in the stands who loved OU but did not attend OU. Many of them probably did not attend any college but had adopted OU as "their" team. I suspect Bama is the same way. Mizzou doesn't have enough of that.
