the state of collegiate athletics is in the absurdity range presently. that's why the president is establishing his saban-led commission to review and perhaps offer some fixes.

the concept of nil is fine with me. far too long coaches and allied administrators like the ncaa's mark emmert received all the benefit of talent brought by student-athletes. the athletes benefited little by comparison. that brought the 2008 o'bannon v. ncaa lawsuit - and here we are living with it.

now, the games would benefit with guardrails. i hope trump is successful, not only with nil but the larger questions surrounding collegiate athletics.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
