of the question in hopes someone may answer.
Is it in the best interests long term of the US gvmt to be solely or heavily dependent upon other nations for the manufacture or development of goods which are elements of existential survival - food, medicine, defense, energy, etc.
I think a nation with the resources of the US is best served leveraging it's own human and other natural resources to it's best ability to reduce such dependence and to relied up rather than reliant upon other nations.
The first part of the question nobody even considered addressing it appears: Do you think the US will simply remain a consumer economy and other nations will simply state as producer economies with low wages and low standards of living simply because that's how it evolved after WWII?
