We no longer have so many things to be competitive on this
- young workforce
- low wages
- environmental concerns
- Easy ability for others to copy at a cheaper rate
Among others.
Will it ebb and flow, yes it will. The last 5 years have clearly shown the value of a diverse supplier base.
Like it or not, it is now a global economy. Focus should be made at getting long better, not starting fights everywhere.
For many of the basics, manufacturing will cost 50-200% more if you believe the sellers
Also, consumers have adopted to the price shopping model to the basics.
The only caveat is if American manufacturing can be both cost competitive and high quality. I have my doubts on both.
