The enrollment at Mizzou was 31,221 in the fall of 2021.

We can talk about the effect that CS1950 had on the football program, but the university took a huge hit from adverse public perception from which it has not yet fully recovered. Enrollment decreased each year until 2018 when it was 29,866. Families urged students to withdraw from Mizzou and prospective students were dissuaded from considering Mizzou.

That perception also affected the standing that Mizzou has in the college rankings in US News and World Report, since that ranking depends in part on the perception that fellow educators have of the university. For years, Mizzou hovered around #100 in national universities and was slowly improving into the mid 90’s in the rankings. As a result of what happened in 2015, Mizzou fell into the 130’s, and has slowing moved up to it’s current ranking of #122.
