the program - he sided with his players. Making the move those that howled the loudest wanted - kicking the protesters off the team - would have supported the "racist ass Mizzou" narrative that some in the state push to recruits.

The only other realistic move he had was to tell the protesting players they were free to do so but they were going to the bottom of the depth chart and would have to earn their way back onto the field. What does that do to the locker room?

Ultimately the failure wasn't Gary Pinkel's - it was Bowen Loftin not doing his damn job and leading the University. If that bowtied buffoon would have spent as much time doing his job as he did surfing pron on his cell phone things would have turned out better.
