How close really was MU in those two seasons?

Got stomped when played the big boys. OU in '07 and Auburn in '13. K State never played for a Natty. You can get in the top 10, maybe top 5, but you aren't winning it. Last time a non-blue blood won was Georgia Tech in 1990 and they split it.

I'm just being a realist. I wish it were much more competitive and amateur but it isn't and it's wishful thinking to believe its ever going back.
