It still works great in lesser sports because they are getting very good relative value.

Look at pro sports.

1. Generally the talent gets about 50% of revenue
2. Ownership in pro sports has to put money at risk for their part

In college bball and fball, the talent might get 10% of revenue generated and it is all indirect.

Those that run college sports have zero skin in the game. They get money from others to play with and make millions as a result.

Add to that a bit of the race card (look at color of the talent vs those running things), and you have a pot that is boiling over wanting access to those billions.
