is guaranteed to be there all 4 years. Negative recruiting tactics include pointing out to recruits when an opposing coach doesn't have 4 years left on the contract so there is no guarantee the coach will likely not be there for their whole career.

That is the only reason coaches demand to have 4+ years left on a contract at all times. It is also why when ADs let them get below 4 you can safely assume the coach is being hung out to dry.
