The FBI's statement mentions nothing about something like that either.

The more likely scenario is that Wallace's team was hyper-sensitive because of the Nascar/Confederate flag issue which Bubba voiced his opinion over. A member of his crew gets to the stall and finds a noose which I'm guessing isn't something you randomly find in a lot of Nascar garages. The crew member tells Nascar and the whirlwind begins. I think it was fair to think that it was planted to intimidate him for what he said earlier in the week. Luckily it turned out to not be the case.
