By their definition, an uninsured person who gets into a catastrophic car wreck and will require a lifetime of medical care, should be able to go to an insurance company and get insurance for the same rate as someone who has been responsibly paying all her life.

The effects of the car accident are pre existing at the time of the application for insurance.

Someone who gets cancer at at 45 and is uninsured can do the same.

The insurance company will get $5,000 in premiums and pay $500,000 in medical bills.
