I tend to watch the teams in the East division until they we've played them. I may pick up some other games but that's pretty much it til bowl season. And that's pick and choose. Teams cycle and to be honest I've been going to games since about '75 and our fanbase has a history of being a loser fanbase. Happy for upsets but expecting the worst. Thank God for the Pinkel years because you can tell who became a fan in 2000 and who was a fan before hand. There has to be a commitment to improving the program, raising the program and growing the fanbase. 2015 really set back the Mizzou fanbase. So work has to be done towards bringing it back to 60k at nonconference games, etc.
What makes college special for me is that there is still a mix of kid on the field playing for different reasons. Some are playing for that shot at the NFL, others know they're playing the last of their football, and some never get to play other than as the practice opposing team. There's still something to cheer about at the player level. And what's neat is the number of kids who do come from a disadvantaged background and they're working in school to have something to go to the next stage of their life with. When it becomes pay to play, and it's headed there, there will be few players you will care about. We cheer for that last moment where loyalty to one's teammates still exists and it's probably on its way out.
