In football Oregon was the last team to play for a championship that didn’t average a top 10 class in the classes that made up that team.

In basketball class rankings don’t matter. If you look at the last 4-5 champs only UNC averaged a top 30 class in the classes that made up the team.

In a way individual rankings did matter. Almost all of the teams that have played for a championship had multiple top 50 ranked recruits.
