The goal was to flatten the curve to prevent overwhelming the medical system. It looks like we could have done that without shutting all of the businesses down. Some might have decided to do so voluntarily, but who knows.

In any event, we are FAR below overwhelming the medical system. In fact, the hospitals are furloughing doctors and nurses and the harm from shutting down seems to clearly outweigh any benefit.

Many seem to be trying to move the goal posts. Flattening the curve has been accomplished. If things change they can reevaluate, of course, but so far there's a massive overreaction.

Fortunately, Missouri doesn't seem to be among the more tyrannical states.
