Teams like Nebraska haven't been good in 15+ years and they sell out a stadium that holds 25-30% more people in a state with a population that's 1/3 the size.
Additionally ****ty states like Kansas and Oklahoma that are also small have two real d1 fbs programs that split the population.
First it was, oh, we have two NFL teams..but then the same "Mizzou fans" who supported the Rams when they were good, stopped and they left.
Then it was "oh, it's a 90 minute drive wah wah wah"
Then it was "oh they missed one practice"
Then it was "oh, Odom sucks"
Now it's? A combination of all of those things.
Terrible fan base. Absolutely fair weather fans that just support whatever is hot. Absolutely abysmal people most of them.
I live in Texas and made the drive 10 hours each way for almost all of the home games this year and Wyoming. I don't know how people can complain coming from STL or KC. The product on the field is good. They are selling beer now. Tickets are affordable and most of you don't have to even get hotels and gas is 2.30 a gallon. So total cost for 4 people to go is something like $300 at worst. People can't make it to 4-5 games a year?
