he just happened to be the coach at the time. His involvement in getting into the SEC was being asked if he could compete in the SEC and he said if you provide financial support for facilities, etc.
This was done by the leadership of the University and maybe the AD some as well. This was all about money/business and Pinkel did not make these decisions.
