"Do you think the mood in 1969, young people felt like they were finally winning some kind of cultural war against the establishment?"
Not a boomer, but all of my siblings are. Ironically, despite being various degrees of radical in the late 1960's through the 1970's, they've all become establishment people. Big government, big tech, big pharma, censorship, pro-Ukraine war (whatever it takes, as long as it takes), main stream media is the gospel. They are in for all of it. Their idea of radical was Carter, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama, who also scratched their white guilt itch.
