Just because someone else could have also done it doesn't mean Cuonzo didn't do it.
Jontay started like 7 games that year, avged less than 10 ppg, and completely disappeared in the NCAA tourney game. Micheal was an overall net negative and we would have been better off on the court if he just never signed at MU. They weren't the reason MU made the NCAA tourney that year.
Kassius had an outstanding season, Barnett improved tremendously, and Cuonzo did a pretty good job of coaching. That is why they earned an at large bid.
