We just don't have the consistent fan base money flow that other universities have. At the same time, our fan base is demanding and impatient. It's a vicious cycle. We won't break out of mediocrity and spend aggressively until we have fans that financially support MU through good and bad. We won't have loyal fans without 20+ years of consistent success. We won't have 20+ years of success without spending aggressively.

And even if we do have successful stretches, the fan base will disappear in a second. Look at basketball.
