hopefully overcome that illness and lead a normal life. If she thought she were a cat I would try to help her understand that she was not a cat, I most definitely would not feed her meow mix and call her Buttons.

My daughter does not have a penis so she is not a boy. If she were to tell me that she were a boy we would have conversations about identity and how she felt. I would not lop off her penis and call her Kevin.

I would explain that the teenage year are confusing and very tough and that everyone struggles to find their identity. I would also explain to her that teens go through many changes and that her feelings now most definitely will not be her feeling in ten years. I would finally explain to her that if she reaches adulthood and still feels this way then there are permant options she could persue at that time, as an adult.
