Creating outward 'diversity' in a group, i.e. skin color, gender, while enforcing 'unity' (or near-unity) of thought such as higher education faculty which is almost 100% leftist thinking.
The idea behind diversity being beneficial is that everyone offers a unique and different perspective, which can all be considered which then theoretically creates better solutions, ideas, etc together. The benefit of diversity is not from outward appearances, although those CAN BE indicative of differing perspectives.
Can you measure true perspective or experience diversity?
Of course not...but you sure as hell can measure skin color and gender. And if you can measure it, you can control it! As a result, that's what organizations do, they continue in some cases to hire for diversity rather than merit, because by outward appearances sometimes hiring by merit or even experience/perspective ends up being OUTWARDLY non-diverse.
