The only way for them to be even close to accurate is mass mass testing.

thus far, we have tested 7 million people (2.1% of the population), with the vast majority of those being most recent.

I was "ok" for things to slow down to allow science a bit of time two months ago....it would have anyways. To me, science is maybe 75% of the way there in understanding it, and the initial models were way too high, but that is when the narrative changed as well.
