When discussing a player, looking at their stats as a player is helpful. Ignoring them would suggest you want to have an opinion without considering actual facts.
I've long said:
MS had a terrible year last year and that reflects his physical limitations and his limitations in current skills.
MS was given every opportunity to succeed as he started 18 games and played 591 minutes at Illinois.
MS will improve and I want him to. He's a good kid and players improve over time.
"Poor coaching and support at Illinois" seems like an excuse from someone who might be a bit too personally invested in this to see it objectively.
