even outside of this issue. Clearly Fowler had no relationship with Matheny. You could see the frustration mounting. He wasn't getting the most out of guys - almost like some just were starting to throw in the towel and quit on him. I'm sure the articles were overblown but they at least point to a theme of Matheny losing control.
