The BCS and now the playoffs have diminished the bowls. I remember when I was in school it was a huge deal even though we were only 7-3 going into our final game against Oklahoma to beat Oklahoma and get a bid to the Tangerine bowl which we then won.

Now with the “playoffs”all that’s out the window. And with conference realignment none of the old rivalries really mean anything anymore. Texas and Texas A&M really don’t care about not playing each other. They both just want to get into the playoffs. Until college football figures out a way to make the playoffs chase more widespread attendance and interest will continue to diminish
