country to country and from one point in time to another within the same country.
A look at the Jewish people/nation is a prime example of variances over time. There were centuries where Israel lived by God's law and was great example to the nations around them. Other times they went off the rails and were exceedingly perverse. The morality of the people of a nation is probably more like a roller coaster ride over time than some nearly constant level.
I have seen a drastic change in the moral fabric of the US in relatively short order.
When you believe Jesus is who he said he was and you live a life that bears good fruit, which shows you actually believe, you have salvation.
Jeff, everybody thinks they are going to heaven. Christian is very inclusive which most don't understand you believe Jesus is who he said he was.
With respect to Christianity being very inclusive, I would say that in some senses that is true, but would also note that Our Lord also mentions how difficult it is to get into heaven... the way is hard and the gate is narrow and many do not take that road. He also warns about many who think they're going to heaven, but who will be turned away.
Jesus tells us that we are to be 'perfectly one''even as we are one'.
The glory which thou hast given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and thou in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them even as thou hast loved me. (John 17:22-23
He also founded a Church, which the Sacred Scriptures tell us is "the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth." (1 Timothy 3:15)
and the leaders of that Church were His vicars, and the Church should be obeyed. See The Church in the Bible:

Keep in mind His words in John 6:
So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me. (John 6:53-57)
