Royals spent. Now it is about the same, and both the Royals and Cards are out-yachted by an extreme amount from the big boys...

Dodgers - $337M - currently in 1st place
Mets - $331M - currently in 2nd place behind Philly
Yankees - $291M - currently in 2nd place behind Toronto
Philly - $279M - currenbtly in 1st place
Toronto - $248M - currently in 1st place

This isn't rocket science.

Cards - #19 at $135M
Royals - #20 at $125M

The top 4 teams are more than doubling the Cards and Royals payrolls.
