But the point still stands, in my opinion. Hopefully our coaches and players (& fans) are trying to take good care of their health, for their own good... but it could also have a serious impact upon the whole program.
This is just one datapoint among many that impact health. I would imagine that if a coach was a heavy smoker or seriously obese that it would be a topic of concern to the fans and the AD.
Saban always seemed to be pretty fit. Not sure if that is actually the case, or if that had any impact on his coaching ability or longevity, but it likely did. A good, healthy body also has been shown to help with mental clarity.
