I think CFB is going down a bad and unsustainable path

The transfer portal/NIL free-for-all couple with what I think are the conferences and TV's misunderstanding about why college football is popular is contributing to this. Then you add in that youth participation is down as well, and I think the long, slow decline is upon us.
College football die hards (lots people who post on here, for example) are not enough to sustain large viewerships. You need casual fans and you need them from schools outside the Big 3 or 4 conferences and outside of the blue-blood programs. But with bowl games and conference match-ups (and rivalries) being relegated to afterthoughts, you are losing those fans. They have no need to tune into an Ohio St-ND match up or 4 rounds of playoffs. Once you've taken away most of what these casual fans care about, they will tune out. And they have.
Now have their good players leave for more money at bigger schools and it's less interesting.
CFB needs to fix itself, imo. It won't.
