are no longer employed by the athletics department. This level of incompetence wasn't due to a shortfall of projected revenues but a lack of oversight and control of expenses.
My highlights/opinions of Laird Veach's spin attempt:
- Deflected from the issue by praising success of the football team, recent win over kU in basketball and athletics GPA.
- Distanced himself from the issue by referencing that he wasn't even here throughout the duration of the prior fiscal year.
- Concealed discussion about the deficit in a middle paragraph and used percentages to minimize the reality of actual dollars and cents lost.
- Praised his bosses, (the BOC and Choi)
- Ask for alums/boosters to keep the checks coming.
Time will tell if this administration can successfully run an athletics department, but they have already proven themselves worthy of a future in our nation's congress, where there is no bottom line responsibility and everyone talks in spin circles.
