Why do medical companies, Drs, hospitals, all of them really, submit bills to insurance for a lot more than their agreed price with said insurance company?
I bought some medical equipment from a local supply company over 3 months ago. A claim finally hit my insurance a month ago for $500. The insurance company knocked it down to $250. Just last week I finally got a bill for said equipment for the $250 the insurance company said I was responsible for.
So why do they do that? They know insurance companies isn't going to pay that much. I don't believe they would charge that much if I was a cash paying customer. I've never understood it. Can they use that to show a loss for tax purposes or something. There has to be a reason because they all do it.
