when in fact COVID itself ruined many businesses. That was my point. Bars and restaurants that were open were not getting business because people didn't want to go out...not because they couldn't. That was my point the whole time. And while some businesses that were mandated to close down suffered lost business and did shut down as a result, I acknowledged some of that while you acknowledged none of my argument which was not only based on the reality everyone around them saw but common sense.

I further made the point that of all businesses, bars and restaurants are especially susceptible to market conditions (not only a pandemic but recessions, etc.) becasue they run on extremely tight margins. Thus while it seemed like the government was shutting the lights out themselves on many of these businesses, many of them were probably not going to make it anyway due to a lack of business from customers staying away because of the pandemic anyway.
