You are incorrect. You are taking the ideological line on this one. Not me. And if you are going to blame the government for handouts, then Trump should receive equal blame. But that really isn't why it happened. You are blaming the government for too much money in circulation and completely ignoring the supply side of supply and demand. The government had a role but it wasn't the primary role. In fact, I'd say the government's role in shutting down the economy which created shortages was probably greater than the bailout issue.
But it wasn't totally the result of the government. My company voluntarily shut down drilling during Covid for health concerns. Later, the lack of demand and price drops insured drilling stayed shut down.
