hold that speech private? The government should be allowed to surveil the speech of American citizens?
You apparently are OK with the government intercepting communications or conversations or speech between American citizens. You haven't kept them from speaking so you pretend that their freedom of speech has not been infringed.
But you take the information from your eavesdropping surveillance and use it to, stop their activities. And you wanna spin that to say that freedom of speech was not diminished.
If police intentionally intercepted communication between two American citizens plotting a mass casualty event.
If the time and place of the event were communicated and intercepted and are known by the cops.
If the cops are on the scene before the criminals arrive and stop the activity from taking place,
What are the criminals charged with? They haven't done anything illegal, yet. They have not killed anyone. They are carrying weapons that they are allowed to have and nothing that they have done in anyway violates the law.
Can they be detained and under what charge?
Innocent lives were saved, but at what cost? Was free speech maintained, and allowed by law-enforcement?
