President is the only office voted for by people of all states. It is not the same as voting for members of Congress. My suggestion was very specific, in limiting the amendment to address voting for President, and only the President.
That isn't the slippery slope, that you are trying to suggest.
It only addresses one real issue; vote integrity for election of the President. It keeps states honest with regard to the election of the President. Each state can still have its own rules for all other elections and issues on the ballot.
That does not create an all powerful federal govt. Such a suggestion is laughable. It only provides a safe way to enforce vote integrity, with minimal effort.
